Thanksgiving - November 26, 2009

We went to Robin and Brent's for Thanksgiving dinner. Chris and Sheila were there with Austin. Austin woke up and ate just before our dinner was ready. I fed him and by the time everyone was seated and eating, he finished up and joined us at the table. We had the usual menu for dinner and for dessert we had: pumpkin pie, pecan pie, fudge and Sheila's delicious pumpkin ice cream dessert. I was so full when I finished, but before we left I had another piece of Robin's fudge.
I guess I'll have to exercise tomorrow since I'm not going shopping for Black Friday.

Decided to do a little writing today, so I got out my story of My Most Treasured Christmas Ornament and pared it down to 300 words. I'm going to send it in to the Beacon Journal for their ornament memories page.
I also worked on the current novella I'm writing so Cindy Hall ( can critique them.

Mod Cane

I saw a post about making a polymer clay flower mod cane with the extruder so decided to try it. In the mod cane you put circles of different color in the extruder and when they come out all the different colors are showing when you slice them. Each slice is different. I made a long snake and then cut it into 7 lengths. Six of the lengths went around the 7th making a flower petal. Of course you can't find a real flower that looks like that but it's interesting.
Picture showed up good other places, but doesn't look good here. The pendant to the left in the picture was not put through the pasta machine after the cane slices were laid on the sheet of polymer clay. The one in the right was.
I now have to bake them, sand with three grits of sandpaper and finally polish on the buffer.

November 14, 2009

It's a beautiful sunny, fall day and here I am setting up a new blog. Should have thought about what to say before I started this.
This morning daughter Dianne and I went to a couple of garage sales. They are few and far between this time of year. Bought a mister for plants and plan to use it in my studio when I need a repel liquid on my polymer clay. Also got some glue-on crystals for .25. Of course they are really good crystals. :-)
We stopped in at Marion's Closet to drop off some things. Marion's Closet is a place that people can get 5 items free each time they go in. The men of the church were helping sort and hang clothes and Clayt was there. Dianne and I were going to go on to Kohl's (I had a 30% coupon) and Sierra wanted to stay with Clayt and help. When we went back to get Sierra she didn't want to leave so Dianne and I stayed to help until lunchtime. Then we all went to Subway.
